The Armed Forces Continue Supporting the Implementation of Presidential Directives Through the Launch of the New Phase of the NXT-GENE Sports Genome Test and the Handover of Sports Genome Reports
As part of its commitment to implementing the directives of the political leadership and advancing the system of scientific research, healthcare, and sports development in Egypt, the Egypt Center for Research and Regenerative Medicine (ECRRM) of the Armed Forces participated in the ceremony for the handover of the final reports of the Sports Genome Project and the launch of the new phase of the NXT-GENE Sports Genome Test.
In his opening remarks, Mohamed El-Gohary, CEO of ECRRM, expressed his great pleasure in organizing this important national scientific event. He affirmed that the project embodies the pioneering role of the Armed Forces in supporting major national initiatives, particularly in the fields of medicine and scientific research. He emphasized that ECRRM works to provide the latest technologies and achieve integration between research and scientific institutions in the country, in line with the vision of the political leadership to support human development and achieve sporting excellence.
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, expressed his pride in this pioneering project, which is the first of its kind in Africa and the Middle East, with an investment cost of 2 billion EGP. He praised the fruitful cooperation with the Ministry of Defense in this initiative and stressed that the project represents a qualitative leap in the history of medicine and scientific research in Egypt, reflecting the state’s commitment to supporting the system of innovation and biotechnology, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to build generations better prepared for the future.

This, he said, enhances Egypt’s research and medical capacities in this vital field. He also praised the role of ECRRM in this domain.
Dr. Ashraf Sobhy, Minister of Youth and Sports, stated that the NXT-GENE project is an unprecedented step in the development of Egyptian sports by integrating sports medicine and genetic technology. This will allow for guiding young athletes toward the sports best suited to their genetic makeup, as well as designing individualized training and rehabilitation programs that boost performance and reduce injury rates. This, he emphasized, aligns with the state’s strategy of investing in human capital. He also expressed his pride in the researchers and experts at ECRRM.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, stressed that this major national project is consistent with the state’s vision, which places the human being at the core of development. He added that the Sports Genome Project is not merely a sporting initiative but a forward-looking vision to build the champions of the future using cutting-edge science in DNA analysis, training, nutrition, and rehabilitation plans tailored to each athlete’s genetic profile. He also commended ECRRM’s role in building human capacities in this field.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished figures, including:
